En el mundo legal is a complete A1 lesson for beginners who want to develop practical Spanish in a professional context.
Students begin with essential vocabulary connected with people, places and activities in the legal world, including abogado/a, juez/jueza, tribunal, contrato, reunión, documento, cliente and ley. They then use this vocabulary in short texts and practical activities based on lawyers, judges, law students, workplaces and everyday professional situations.
The grammar develops progressively from the present tense to querer + infinitivo for plans and intentions and para + infinitivo and porque + frase for explaining purpose and reasons.
The lesson integrates vocabulary and grammar with reading comprehension, listening, speaking and writing. The listening activity presents a conversation between two legal professionals discussing a client meeting, a trial, documents, international law and plans for a professional conference.
Students finish by discussing their own professional interests and writing a plan for the next twelve months.
