Description
Nemo auditur propriam turpitudinem allegans is a complete B2 Legal Spanish lesson exploring the principle that a person or public authority should not obtain an advantage from its own wrongful conduct, error or omission.
The lesson begins with a contextualised case involving a taxpayer, the refund of IBI, administrative silence and access to judicial review. Students develop key vocabulary including silencio, inadmisión, diligencia, pretensión, torpeza and ventaja before examining the principle and its application.
The grammar section focuses on formal structures of evaluation, particularly es + adjetivo + que and resultar + adjetivo + que, allowing students to practise the contrast between the indicative and subjunctive in formal professional language. The lesson also includes extensive reference material on the present and imperfect subjunctive.
Reading comprehension is followed by an extensive debate and speaking section. Four realistic scenarios invite students to apply the target language to university fees, unresolved public subsidies, public procurement and administrative silence in a business licensing context. Students are encouraged to formulate arguments using formal connectors such as en consecuencia, sin embargo, no obstante and por consiguiente.
The resource also contains clickable external links, allowing students to access additional online material connected with the lesson. An internet connection is required to access the linked content.
A complete answer key is included. The introductory disclaimer makes clear that the material is designed for Spanish language learning and not for legal or professional advisory purposes.
