Description
A substantial 9 page B2 Spanish lesson designed to develop language skills through the professional context of propiedad intelectual and derechos de autor.
Students begin with vocabulary practice and a text exploring the international challenges and opportunities surrounding intellectual property. The activity develops professional vocabulary including concepts connected with legal frameworks, patents, trademarks, international cooperation and technological innovation. The vocabulary section also includes a link to Quizlet for additional practice.
The lesson then develops reading comprehension through True, False or Not Mentioned questions before introducing a longer extract written in formal legal Spanish. Students work with the text through detailed multiple choice questions, giving them practice interpreting more demanding authentic style material.
A separate listening comprehension section explores the language used to discuss the differences between propiedad intelectual and derechos de autor. Students answer ten multiple choice questions and can subsequently work with the complete transcript included in the resource.
The final grammar activity develops accuracy through a contextualised gap fill exercise covering prepositions, conjunctions, the subjunctive and common grammatical combinations, all within the same professional topic.
Complete answers and the listening transcript are included.
This is a Spanish language learning resource. The legal subject matter provides the context for developing vocabulary, reading, listening and grammar skills. It is not intended to teach intellectual property law or provide legal, legislative or professional advice.
Internet access is required to use the linked online vocabulary practice and audio. A free Quizlet account may be required for the Quizlet activities.
