Español legal en contexto is a comprehensive Spanish-language learning resource designed for B1-B2 students who want to expand their vocabulary and communication skills in legal and professional contexts.
Rather than concentrating on a single area of law, the lesson introduces students to six different practical legal topics through accessible contextualised texts:
- digital legacies and wills;
- bills, legislative proposals and non-legislative motions;
- relationships in the workplace and dismissal;
- taxation of second-hand sales;
- tacit acceptance of an inheritance;
- conciliation before legal proceedings.
Students develop specialist vocabulary through verb-to-noun transformations, definition matching and contextual exercises. Key language includes terms connected with wills, inheritance, assets, executors, workplace hierarchy, harassment, taxation, debts, legal proceedings and claims.
The grammar section develops language that is particularly useful in professional contexts, including verb-to-noun transformations, prepositions, ser and estar, and paraphrasing using alternative structures.
Reading comprehension is developed through multiple-choice questions, true-or-false activities and interpretation exercises that require students to understand legal expressions in context rather than simply translate individual words.
The resource also contains four listening activities based on realistic conversations: a consultation about a digital legacy, a workplace conversation, advice about online sales, and a more complex inheritance consultation.
Students then move into oral interaction through a legal-consultation role-play. The student takes the role of the lawyer and practises opening a consultation, explaining a situation, making recommendations, explaining consequences and closing the consultation. Four different client scenarios are provided, covering inheritance, online sales, workplace relationships and digital legacies.
A complete answer section and full listening transcripts are included, making the resource suitable both for lessons with a teacher and for independent study.
