Description
Contrato de arrendamiento urbano y rural is a substantial B2 Legal Spanish lesson built around the language of tenancy agreements and property rental.
Students begin by developing specialised vocabulary through word families, working with nouns, verbs and adjectives connected with leases and contractual relationships, including arrendamiento, arrendador, arrendatario, cesión, subarrendable, prórroga, vencimiento, indemnizable, suministro and rescisión.
The first main reading is a contrato de arrendamiento urbano. Students work directly with contractual clauses covering duration and renewal, rent and payment, late payment, subletting, inspection of the property, early termination and dispute resolution. This is followed by ten detailed multiple choice comprehension questions requiring careful interpretation of the contractual language.
The second part introduces a contrato de arrendamiento rural, giving students the opportunity to encounter a different range of contractual vocabulary and provisions relating to agricultural use, assignment and subletting, rent, agricultural obligations, return of the property, guarantees, renewal and jurisdiction.
The extensive grammar section focuses on the present subjunctive in contractual contexts. Students complete verbs and reformulate sentences using structures such as es necesario que, es importante que, es posible que and exigir que. Separate activities apply the grammar to both urban and rural tenancy contexts.
A further grammar section develops constructions with se, again using language taken from urban and rural tenancy situations. Students transform sentences and complete contextualised examples involving rent, repairs, termination, services, agricultural regulations and contractual obligations.
A complete answer section is included.
