La palabra del día: Cursar

Verb. Another tricky word. In addition to ‘to course’, ‘to make a course’, in Legal and Business Spanish cursar means something more: to process a request, an instance, a file, etc., or send them to the court or the authority to which they should go. E.g.: El ejecutivo de la UE se ha pronunciado en contra de la petición cursada por Londres para que el Reino Unido se sumase al convenio de Lugano sobre el reconocimiento y la ejecución de resoluciones judiciales en materia civil y mercantil: The EU executive has spoken out against the request made by London for the United Kingdom to join the Lugano agreement on the recognition and enforcement of judicial decisions in civil and commercial matters.
The lexical expression is cursar un pedido/una petición/una orden, etc. The noun is el curso. E.g.: Las presentes condiciones generales de venta rigen la venta de los productos que se encuentran en www.mistercredito.com el día del curso del pedido: These general conditions of sale govern the sale of products found on www.mistercredito.com on the day on which the order was placed. dc
