Description
Develop your Legal and Financial Spanish through the language of public finances, fiscal policy and government spending.
This B1 B2 lesson introduces vocabulary connected with public finance and the economy, including gastos, presupuesto, recursos, crecimiento, bienestar, desafíos, deuda and entorno, with activities designed to develop understanding and use of these terms in context.
The central text explores how governments generate and spend financial resources and examines national budgets, fiscal deficits, public debt, taxation, transparency, corruption prevention, economic stability and investor confidence. Students can read the text or listen to it using the accompanying external audio track.
The lesson includes substantial grammar practice. Students first identify and analyse examples of the present subjunctive in the text, particularly after expressions such as es crucial que, es vital que, es deseable que, es indispensable que, es probable que and es necesario que.
A second grammar section examines no solo… sino también / sino que también, including when que is required. A further section contrasts pero and sino, helping students distinguish between contrast and correction or substitution after a negative statement.
The lesson concludes with discussion questions on public spending, transparency, international financial assistance, healthcare during economic crises, citizens’ access to information and fiscal recommendations from international organisations.
Complete answers are included, making the resource suitable for independent study as well as teacher led lessons.
