Description

An engaging eight-page A2 Spanish lesson introducing essential legal vocabulary and the use of the future tense through practical situations involving inheritance, climate change, discrimination and criminal law.

The resource combines accessible reading texts, vocabulary exercises, grammar practice, listening comprehension and guided speaking activities. It is designed to help elementary learners communicate about legal situations in Spanish without requiring specialist legal knowledge.

What the lesson includes

1. Essential legal vocabulary

Two exercises introduce ten useful terms, including herencia, testamento, heredero, demanda, tribunal, discriminación, reclamación, delito, condena and multa.

Students match words with definitions and complete short legal situations using the vocabulary.

2. Reading comprehension: Four legal situations

Four illustrated reading texts explore different questions:

  • Can someone inherit after attempting to kill a parent?

  • Can citizens bring legal proceedings against the State over climate change?

  • Can a hotel refuse accommodation to certain customers?

  • Can someone be convicted of an offence that was not defined by law when the conduct occurred?

The readings are followed by twelve comprehension questions designed to develop reading skills and reinforce vocabulary in context.

3. Grammar: SI + present indicative + futuro imperfecto

A clear grammar explanation introduces conditional sentences expressing possible future consequences.

Students practise structures such as Si una persona presenta una demanda, el tribunal estudiará el caso through verb completion, sentence matching and guided sentence production.

The lesson also introduces useful irregular future forms, including tendrá, podrá, hará and habrá.

4. Listening comprehension: A legal consultation

A short dialogue between a lawyer and a client explores two practical situations involving inheritance and a hotel complaint.

Students complete multiple-choice questions and a gap-fill activity, with a full transcript included.

5. Guided speaking: ¿Qué pasará si…?

Structured oral activities help students practise the future tense through ten legal situations, partner questions and personal responses.

The activities provide clear prompts, allowing students to practise the target grammar while developing confidence in spoken Spanish.

6. Complete answer key

The resource includes answers to the vocabulary, reading, grammar and listening exercises, together with suggested responses for the speaking activities.
