Description
Develop your Legal and Financial Spanish through an introduction to Ofertas Públicas de Adquisición (OPA).
This concise B2 lesson explains the principal stages of an OPA, from identifying a target company and conducting a preliminary analysis to determining the offer price, financing the acquisition, obtaining regulatory approval, launching the offer and communicating the final result.
Students practise essential financial and corporate vocabulary including acciones, empresa cotizada, activos, accionistas and préstamo, first through definition matching and subsequently through contextualised exercises based on the acquisition process.
The grammar section uses the verb invertir to review a wide range of Spanish verb forms, including the present, past tenses, future, conditional, compound tenses, subjunctive and imperative. A complete grammatical appendix is provided for reference.
The lesson concludes with comprehension and discussion questions followed by links to external material relating to real examples of takeover offers, allowing students to apply the vocabulary to professional and contemporary contexts.
Complete answers are included.
